Game Report – Chiles v. Lynn Haven Mosely

(December 10, 2004)

Lynn Haven (Panama City) Mosely visited Chiles for the first of a home and home series this season.  Because Mosely had earlier in the week traveled to Tallahassee to take on Leon they could not leave school early enough to get to Tallahassee in time for the JV matchup and thus brought their Varsity side only.

When we arrived at the Chiles’ pitch it seemed like we had gone back in time; the Mosley side was wearing the exact green uniforms Chiles had the past few years.

Throughout the first half both teams traded blows but none were able to find the back of the net.  Chiles was controlling the ball more than the visitors but could not mount any serious attacks on the goal.  Similarly, all advances by Mosely were turned away by the strong defensive line of Drew Eppes, Andrew Bascom, Jacob Howard and keeper Mike Turner.

The first break came in the second half, as Tyler Williams collected the ball, outmaneuvered the defender and put the ball into the net.  Chiles continued with the pressure, and later in the second half Gary Warner was making a run and was clearly fouled in the box.  Tyler Williams took the penalty kick and easily beat the Mosley keeper, putting Chiles up 2-0.

The Chiles defense remained strong the remainder of the match, with Mike Turner making only 1 save and defender Jacob Howard making a save, and Chiles triumphed 2-0.  Shots were made by Bryan Allen, Tyler Williams, Gary Warner and Andrew Struhs.

Chiles, 4-3-1 (3-1) after the Mosely contest, travels to Mosely January 25. They take on Jacksonville Bolles Saturday, December 11, at Chiles.
